With the credit crunch really biting at household budgets, one local vet group has decided to offer help by slashing the cost of pet food across the board - a measure aimed at saving hundreds of pounds on a family's annual pet food bill.

Oakfield Veterinary Group, which has surgeries in Tamworth, Atherstone and Castle Bromwich has taken the unusual step of offering cost-price products in a bid to take the sting out of caring for pets in tight economic circumstances.

Senior Vet John Ambler said, "We know how hard it can be for people to find money for pet food when budgets are stretched, and sadly, this sometimes means that pet owners are forced to postpone other pet care treatments to save money.
